There are Fairies in the Gutter is a collection of real life stories about the sort of unsung heroes and beautifully flawed eccentrics one might find bumbling around the grit and grime of urban decay. The piece developed out of a series of storytelling workshops Ursula ran back in 2008 for a group of dis-affected teenagers and quickly put her on the map as an up and coming teller of comedic personal tales. ‘Fairies’ stormed both Festival at the Edge in 2012 and Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival in 2013.
Each tale is peculiarly bright in essence; moving, poignant and in places hilarious! They invite listeners young and old to recall their own childhood “furries” and remind us that these dear folk can always be accessed through imagination and memory…. The collection, which features Ursula’s own songs as well as her stories, is now available on CD.

I have been going to Festival at the Edge for a good few years now and I can honestly say that it was the first time I have seen a standing ovation. You truly deserved it. I came away feeling all blessed.
